Mayor Dunwell of Alpha Endorses Briss

Tuesday is an important election for Phillipsburg, and by extension, the entire region. Voters must decide if they will vote for the Democratic team of Brisson, Clark and Huff, and finally give Mayor Steve Ellis the mandate he deserves, or vote for the Republican team that promises to continue the obstruction and political games of the last two years.

The Republican message, orchestrated by Warren County Republican Chairman Douglas Steinhardt, seems to be that Ellis’ friends have been given jobs and outrageous pay raises, and only a Republican Town Council can stop him. Has Steinhardt forgotten the 27% pay raise given to the Municipal Clerk in 2015 by the Republican controlled Council and outgoing four term Republican Mayor Wyant? Has he forgotten that it was the Republican controlled Council that gave Mayor Ellis’ Confidential Aide her much deserved raise this year? If Steinhardt wants voters to believe that only a Republican Council can stop Ellis, then why didn’t the Republican Council vote down the very raises that they now characterize as “outrageous?” It’s political games like these that gave rise to Trump and the “drain the swamp” demands of the electorate.

If you voted for change two years ago, then go out on Tuesday and support the Democratic candidates of Brisson, Clark, and Huff.

As for Steinhardt, his antics are hurting our brand as Republicans. I guess he can’t remember that famous quote from the most famous Republican: “You can’t fool all the people all the time.”
